It looks like cornerback Champ Bailey’s next stop will be Canton, Ohio, as the 15-year veteran announces that he will retire immediately.

Bailey’s agent Jack Reale made the announcement official as he released a statement on the behalf of his client.

"At this time, Champ has decided not to accept on-field opportunities and pursue another career path," Reale said. "He could be playing right now if he wanted to be."

"To play the end of this season and maybe next season, given his opportunities, he could have done that," Reale said. "But he decided it was best to move on to those other areas. I think everybody on his team agreed that was a good approach.”

Bailey was being pursued by numerous teams according to Reale, but the only team that had been made public was the Baltimore Ravens. Many believed it was a matter of when and not if the Ravens would sign Bailey, but it seems the 12-time Pro Bowler has decided against playing in 2014.

Bailey was released by the Denver Broncos to create cap space and he missed most of the 2013 season due to a foot injury. Bailey did return late in the season and helped the Broncos advance to the Super Bowl. Bailey signed with the New Orleans Saints for training camp but didn't make the team’s final roster.

Bailey is likely heading to the Hall of Fame after being one of the best corners in the NFL with both the Broncos and Washington Redskins.
