The NFL trade deadline will pass at 4 p.m. ET Tuesday and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are considering all their options when it comes to a pair of former first-round picks.
According to reports out of Tampa, the Buccaneers are considering the offers they have on the table for running back Doug Martin and safety Mark Barron. Teams have also called Tampa Bay for wide receiver Vincent Jackson, but it is unlikely that he is traded before the deadline Tuesday afternoon.

Martin’s fate with the Buccaneers were likely sealed when Tampa Bay activated rookie Charles Sims from injury. Coach Lovie Smith prefers running backs that can both pick up first downs in short situations and be a huge factor in pass blocking. Martin is averaging only 3.36 yards per carry and has been dreadful in pass protection.
Barron has been one of the NFL’s worst safeties through eight weeks and has a stat line of three interceptions and one forced fumble through 37 career games. Barron and Martin were the No. 7 and No. 31 picks in the 2012 NFL draft, respectively.

In fantasy circles, Martin is no longer a reliable starter in standard scoring leagues and he would have to be re-evaluated in the event of a trade. The San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots are two of the teams that are rumored to be interested in Martin. The Patriots also have interest in Vincent Jackson.
