The Cleveland Browns have been going with three different running backs throughout the season and coach Mike Pettine spoke about how he chooses a back each week.
Pettine spoke to ESPN Cleveland and said that the week of practice that each player has will determine how much work they get in the games on Sunday. Ben Tate has solidified himself as the starter in Cleveland, but the workload for rookies Terrence West and Isaiah Crowell will be determined by the effort they show going forward.
“it’ll still come down to this week in practice. But I think we all would like to see Isaiah get more touches.”
According to the report, Pettine is cautious to give Crowell more carries, seeing how he has had ball security issues in the early goings of his NFL career. It is safe to say that Tate is the only reliable running back in the stable from a fantasy football standpoint and the rest of the backfield shouldn’t be trusted until they show solid production on a consistent basis.
The Browns host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend before a showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football.
