While the WWE has missed the boat on having Sting face The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX and in years past, it appears as though the two wrestling icons may clash after all at WrestleMania 31 in California in what would prove to be Sting's final match.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, there is now an idea within the WWE to have Sting wrestle one last match --his first for the WWE-- and then retire. The speculated and obvious choice for his match would pit him against The Undertaker in the highly anticipated clash next year.

There had been murmurs that Sting might be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame for next year's class, but nothing has been confirmed on that front. Sting was a mainstay in WCW and never jumped ship to WWE after the company closed its doors in 2001, despite Vince McMahon trying his best to sway him to come over.

Sting ended up in TNA and while the WWE has come close to wrestling him away for years, the company was never able to do so until now. It appeared as though the WWE was preparing to bring him in to face The Undertaker this year at the landmark WrestleMania XXX pay-per-view, however they stuck with the plan to have The Undertaker face Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar and The Undertaker will go head-to-head a week from Sunday from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. There were reports that WWE executives were dragging their feet when it came to signing Sting and that he was seen as a "low priority."

The likely reason for this is that WWE was set on having 'Taker face Lesnar this year, while they were hoping to land Sting for next year.

It's still possible that Sting could make an appearance in some capacity at WrestleMania XXX or the next week's Monday Night RAW, however nothing has been confirmed.

While it remains up in the air, the only thing that seems set in stone for the WWE is that Sting will wrestle one last match for them.
