John Cena stunned countless wrestling fans when he turned heel for the first time in more than two decades at Elimination Chamber: Toronto.

During the event, Cena won the men's Elimination Chamber match before he turned on Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes during a post-match segment involving Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Travis Scott.

Cena clearly aligned himself with The Rock by brutally beating down Rhodes.

As the WWE Universe continues to process the news, here's some backstage scoop on what went down before Elimination Chamber: Toronto.

Who Knew About John Cena's Heel Turn?

According to Fightful Select, only three other people knew about Cena's heel turn prior to it happening in Toronto. One of which is, obviously, The Rock, and the other two are none other than Triple H and Brian Gewirtz, one of WWE's writers.

Whether or not Rhodes was informed prior to or during Elimination Chamber is unclear as of press time. However, Fightful Select has noted that everyone else backstage has been caught unaware of any plans involving Cena's heel turn.

Where Cena and Rhodes' rivalry goes from here remains to be seen, but it has been reported that the 16-time world champion has gone to Africa to continue filming a movie.

Cena Posts on Social Media for the First Time Since Heel Turn

While Cena chose to literally drop the mic during the press conference after Elimination Chamber, he has posted on social media for the first time since aligning with The Rock.

Cena posted a photo of "Grand Theft Auto VI" to his Instagram account. No caption came with the post, leaving fans to speculate as to why he chose to post it to begin with.

"Heel Cena before GTA 6 lol," one comment on the post said.

"Bro acting like he didn't butcher Cody on live tv or smthng," another comment said.
