Regarded by many as the greatest pole vaulter of all time, Armand Duplantis has broken the world record in pole vault for a total of 11 times. Many of those records were set by him.

The most recent of which happened just last Feb. 28 when he cleared 6.27 meters to break his previous record of 6.26 meters.

At just 25 years old, Duplantis sure has a lot left in the tank, and fans all around the world can expect more exciting things.

1. He Recently Released a Song

When he broke his own record yet again last Feb. 28, that wasn't the alone milestone Duplantis for that day. According to The Guardian, the pole vaulter released his debut song called "Bop" earlier that day.

2. He Nearly Went for Baseball

If there's something Michael Jordan and Duplantis have in common, it's that they nearly ditched the sport that eventually made them famous for baseball. At around 12 years old, Duplantis focused solely on baseball before he eventually chose to drop the sport to focus on pole vault.

3. He's Was Born in the USA

While Duplantis represents Sweden, he was actually born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on Nov. 10, 1999. His father is American while his mother is Swedish.

4. He's Not the Only Pole Vaulter in the Family

Pole vault is clear a family affair in the Duplantis household. Mondo's father, sister, and one of his two older brothers are also pole vaulters. His other brother opted to stick to baseball, while his mother was a volleyball player and heptathlete.

5. His Nickname Came From His Grandfather

Duplantis' full name is Armand Gustav Duplantis. So where did Mondo come from? The endearing nickname actually came from his grandfather, who called him "Mondo Man," according to Vogue Scandinavia.

6. He Has a Curated Playlist on Spotify You Can Listen To

The pole vaulter has said in an interview that his listens to "vulgar" music before a competition. If you ever end up wondering just what exactly is his "vulgar" music, Duplantis actually has a curated playlist you can check out on Spotify.

7. He Broke His First World Record in 2020

Duplantis has broken the world record 11 times now, but the first time actually took place just before the COVID-19 broke out. On Feb. 8, 2020, he broke the six-year world record of French pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie by clearing 6.17 meters. It only took him a week to break his first one.

8. He Drives a Polestar

While Duplantis was born and raised in the US, he has since made a lot of effort to embrace his Swedish heritage. He has worked hard to learn how to speak Swedish and even drives a Polestar, which is a Swedish brand.

9. He's Engaged

Sorry, ladies, but Mondo is now engaged to girlfriend Desiré Inglander, who he met in 2020. The engagement took place in October 2024 during a photoshoot with Vogue Scandinavia. When he got down on one knee, Inglander initially thought it was part of the photoshoot.

10. His Mother's Hometown Erected a Pole Vault Bar Next to a Monument to Showcase His Previous World Record

Duplantis has become such a beloved athlete in Sweden. His mother's hometown of Avesta even put up a pole vault bar next to a Dala horse monument. The bar stands at 6.18 meters, which is the height of one of his previous world records.
