The Xbox Scorpio is due for a launch later this year but has so far been having a quiet build up. Besides the initial tease in last year's E3, news about the upcoming console has been far and few in between. But with the internet, rumors are always around the corner and that includes the Xbox Scorpio.
The latest rumor comes from Game Rant and according to the report, it looks like the Xbox Scorpio will soon be revealed. The reveal will also come with the showcase of several games that will display the Xbox Scorpio's graphical capabilities. The games included that will launch alongside the Xbox Scorpio are Red Dead Redemption 2, Forza Motorsport 7 and Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Xbox Scorpio is promised to deliver a "True 4k" gaming experience that is only doable on current high-end PC gaming rigs. The games chosen will showcase this new leap of performance that the Xbox Scorpio has promised.
Among other games, the reports suggest that more games will also show the 4K gaming experience that the Xbox Scorpio promises to bring. The next games that will showcase the new capability of the Xbox Scorpio are Fifa, Madden, and Call of Duty franchises.
In addition, older games can also benefit from the jump in graphical power of the Xbox Scorpio. According to another report, several games have already featured a "change resilience" feature that utilizes dynamic scaling to make full use of the 4k resolution which has 4 times more pixels than the standard 1080p resolution. This means that some Xbox games will not need a patch to take advantage of the Xbox Scorpio's power.
But the one thing that is missing from the report is the inclusion of more first-party games for the Xbox Scorpio. One of the reasons why the PS4 is currently dominating the console market is its huge library of exclusives that is still growing to this day. The PS4 has no signs of slowing down when it comes to exclusives which will leave the Xbox Scorpio in the dust.
Although there are reports of the Xbox Scorpio having several more first party games planned ahead including Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2, Microsoft still has a lot of catching up to do. They may have the most powerful console in the market once the Scorpio releases but without the games to support it, the extra boost in performance wouldn't mean a thing.
