Golden State Warriors Cant Win Without Kevin Durant, With Playoff Berth, Dubs Should Rest Steph Curry

The Golden State Warriors 2017 NBA championship dreams may have taken a big turn with the recent Kevin Durant injury. Though still featuring the best three-pointer the league has ever seen in Steph Curry and two other All-Stars in Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, a number of pundits believe that the Dubs can't win it all without KD.

Matt Barnes has already ensured his appearance in the 2017 NBA finals as he has asked the court to move his hearing dates after the finals. According to foxsports, Barnes sought to postpone his trial dates because he might play in the finals. The emphasis should be in might, as the Golden State Warriors is not looking like a Finals caliber team with its recent loss.

The recent loss against the Bulls is the first back-to-back loss of the Golden State Warriors this season. The Thursday loss is highlighted by the offensive slump of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson who combined for 3-for-22 from the three-point line.

Whether the Dubs accept it or not, its NBA finals hope is tied with Kevin Durant. ESPN even launched an online poll on how far the GSW will go with the Kevin Durant injury.

Even with his video game range, Steph Curry's three-point efficiency is still dependent on free looks and excellent spacing. Kevin Durant's presence on the floor prevents opposing teams from double-teaming Curry. This is because Curry, Thompson and KD are all efficient scorers that demand close coverage in defense.

Without Kevin Durant, the Warriors offense will not run as efficient as the way that led the team to the best offensive rating this season. The Washington Post even pointed out that the Dubs is unrecognizable when they are losing.

According to early prognosis, Kevin Durant will be available before the playoff starts. Instead of winning all remaining games, the Golden State Warriors should think of resting Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and its other key players to prevent further setbacks.
