The Golden State Warriors at 46-8 is currently holding the best record in the entire NBA league. This has led pundits to believe that the Dubs will remain quiet as the Feb. 23 trade deadline comes closer.
The Golden State Warriors has remained relatively silent this season in terms of player movements except when they waived Anderson Varejao in what NBA.com called as a means to deal with depth issues and injuries. The Bay Area team then signed D-league standout Briante Weber to further strengthen their backcourt.
The Golden State Warriors currently have a problem in terms of rim protection. Though JaVale McGee is able to swat shots due to his athleticism, he is not really the legit rim protector that the Bay Area team needs.
The Warriors even look after Kevin Durant at times for inside defense, which shouldn't be the case especially since a deep playoff run is expected for the warriors and resting one of their top dogs should be a priority. Enter Nerlens Noel.
HoopsHabit ranks the current Philadelphia 76ers big man as the top low-cost trade target for the Dubs. This may, however, be a bit tricky as the Sixers is reportedly more keen in trading Jahlil Okafor than making a deal to get rid of Noel.
Nerlens Noel is athletic and defensive minded and shows an occasional spark on the offensive end. Noel's combination of raw talent and potential should be enough reason for the Dubs to consider trading for the big man.
A Nerlens Noel Golden State Warriors trade will certainly make a lot of noise especially since the Dubs' current weakness may already be resolved with the addition of Noel. It can be remembered that their best rim protector in the past season, Andrew Bogut, was lost when the Warriors pushed to acquire Durant in the offseason.
