Carmelo Anthony Trade To Boston Celtics Not Likely, Celtics Focusing On Butler Or George Trade

"Melo-Drama" part two keeps on getting more interesting as more teams are dragged into the Carmelo Anthony trade mix. Though the Boston Celtics have been rumored in the past to be a possible trade destination for the high-scoring forward, Celtics seem to have lost interest in obtaining the All-Star's services.

According to NBA.com, the New York Knicks has been pursuing trade options in spite of the "No Trade Clause" in Carmelo Anthony's contract. The report suggests that the team, led by Team President Phil Jackson, is working under the assumption that Anthony may consider waiving his "No Trade Clause" if they find a good spot for the All-Star forward.

Yahoo Sports earlier reported that the Knicks has approached three NBA teams; the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers for a possible trade. Now, the Carmelo Anthony to Celtics trade scenario may have just been dismissed as the team seem to be more interested in adding Jimmy Butler or Paul George to their young core.

The Carmelo Anthony - Boston Celtics trade seem to be not a good fit for either party. According to CBSSports, Anthony will make the offense of the Celtics predictable. The report also pointed out that Melo will be a defensive liability and may negatively affect the Celtic's defense, which currently stands as among the top 10 in the league.

Though a Carmelo Anthony trade will certainly add a potent scorer to the Celtics, the risks of Anthony disrupting an already established culture is too great to be ignored. Also, the Boston Celtics is not doing that bad this NBA season to make a drastic change to its current lineup.

The Carmelo Anthony trade rumor will just keep on getting noisier as the Feb.23 trade deadline approaches. However, even if the All-Star forward gets to be traded it seem that Boston fans will not be seeing Anthony in a Celtics uniform soon. The Carmelo Anthony to Boston Celtics trade scenario may have just been scrapped.
