Retired NFL veteran Nnamdi Asomugha's Hollywood actress wife Kerry Washington recently hosted a star-studded baby shower at the home of Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes that was not attended by her husband.

According to NecoleBitchie.com, the event attracted such Hollywood heavyweights as Diahann Carroll, Cicely Tyson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jane Fonda and Regina King.

Conspicuous by his absence was Asomugha, who in recent weeks has been rumored to be estranged from his wife over reports he might be gay or bisexual. Washington and Asomugha just married over a year ago and this would be their first child together.

In all, about 60 guest attended the event, held under a canopy in Rhimes' backyard.

The legendary Fonda later blogged "today I was at Kerry Washington's baby shower. She's 7 months pregnant and looking radiant. It was a wonderful party with guests being asked to go into a photo booth and take 6 different poses that were then mounted on a black paper where we could write a message; signing a diaper (I wrote "I hope everything comes out alright!"), putting signed thumb prints onto a drawing of a tree-I had no idea there could be so many nice ways to commemorate the upcoming event and leave loving memories for mom and baby."
