Kevin Ware Recovery: Louisville Forward To Redshirt After Second Leg Injury? [VIDEO]

Kevin Ware may redshirt this season for Louisville after recently injuring the right leg he broke last March during the Cardinals' march to a national championship.

"I think Kevin may be shut down for the year," coach Rick Pitino told ESPN. "We're not 100 percent sure yet."

Ware first injured his leg against Duke in an Elite Eight game last March. NCAA rules state that a player qualifies for a medical redshirt if he plays in fewer than 30 percent of his team's games. The Cardinals (11-2) have 31 games on the schedule this season.

The university also announced that starting forward Chane Behanan has dismissed from the team for violating school policy. "He just did not do the right thing over and over and over," Pitino told eSPN.

The 6-foot-6 junior averaged 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds in 12 games this season. School officials said he was free to now decide if he plans to transfer to another school or seek to play professionally.

"I want to apologize for letting down my family, teammates, coaches, athletic director Tom Jurich, this university and the Louisville fans," Behanan said in a statement released by the university. He also later tweeted that he "will forever miss this place" and that it was "good while it lasted."

When asked Monday if there were any circumstances under which he thought Behanan might be allowed to return to the team, Pitino told ESPN "none that I can see. This is a university policy and has been stretched to the limits."
