Alexander, who inked a four-year, $84 million extension in 2022 worth that included a $30 million signing bonus — still one of the NFL's highest-paid cornerbacks — has a contract with a huge salary-cap aftermath, which has led to internal debate within the Packers' front office regarding a possible trade.

Although Alexander's name has been linked to trade rumors all offseason, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel indicated that the Packers have been busy scouring the trade market.

According to a source who is familiar with the situation, the team had already made up their minds to move on from Alexander as early as February. They were simply waiting to see how much interest there was in teams after the draft before making any moves.
