Rex Ryan Fired: Jets Coach Tells Players 'Word On Street,' Speech Inspires Gang Green To Victory Over Browns? [VIDEO]

Rex Ryan has told his New York Jets players he expects to be fired at the end of the season, according to NFL.com.

Despite having what many consider the worst offensive roster in the league, the Jets have managed to comprise a relatively respectable 7-8 season. Still, Ryan already seems convinced that may not be enough.

NFL.com reports Ryan recently told his players "word on the street" is that he will be relieved of his duties soon after the season ends and is now coaching the last two games of his Jets tenure.

"Guys, word on the street is that I'm getting fired," the website reports Ryan told his players. "I'm not coming back,. That's the word on the street; I have two weeks left. Roll with me here for the last two weeks."

NFL.com notes that Ryan is notorious for using any edge imaginable for motivating his players, and thus it's not known if he truly feels his days are numbered in Gotham City or if he was just attempting to fire up his players to perform as they did in their 24-13 Week 15 home win over Cleveland and thus keeping their hopes alive for a break even season.

In his six Jets seasons, Ryan has thus far composed a 40-38 regular season record and has gone 4-2 in the postseason.
