Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defeated Kevin Owens in the thrilling main event of Saturday Night's Main Event. However, things took a dark turn when the latter attacked Rhodes after the match, giving him a vicious piledriver that sent the champion to the hospital.
Triple H knew that he had to interfere and confront Owens in his unforgiving action.
Post-Match Beatdown Sends Rhodes to the Hospital
Following the match, Owens' vicious assault left Rhodes motionless in the ring. WWE officials acted swiftly, placing Rhodes on a stretcher before transporting him to a nearby Long Island hospital. According to WWE's official statement, Rhodes was diagnosed with axial compression of the cervical spine, cervical swelling, and a cervical strain with spasm.
Fortunately, X-rays confirmed there were no fractures, but the injuries are severe enough to sideline the champion for the foreseeable future.

The Return of Saturday Night's Main Event
The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum served as the historic backdrop for WWE's first Saturday Night's Main Event since 2008. This iconic event, which originally aired on NBC from 1985 to 1992, returned in spectacular fashion, headlined by the Rhodes-Owens clash. The show ended with Rhodes celebrating his hard-fought victory, only for Owens to tarnish the moment with a savage post-match assault.
Triple H Confronts Owens Backstage
Fans and WWE executives alike quickly reacted with anger at the actions of Owens. According to Bleacher Report, Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque went to confront Owens backstage in a heated exchange that spoke to the severity of the situation.
Owens showed no regret for his attack, however, as the scene is set for what should be an explosive continuation of this rivalry.
Will Rhodes Fight Owens For a Rematch?
As of now, we still cannot say if Rhodes will ask for a rematch with Owens, but it might be a non-bearing match if it is permitted.
With the 2025 Royal Rumble scheduled for February 1 and another Saturday Night's Main Event set for January 25 in San Antonio, there is plenty of time for the company to build towards a nerve-wracking showdown between the two superstars.
A Rivalry Far from Over
Cody Rhodes' perseverance has been the bedrock of his WWE reign, but Kevin Owens' relentless ferocity has reignited their feud with a vengeance.
Fans can expect this feud to reach new heights as Rhodes eventually returns to exact revenge. For now, Owens enjoys the upper hand, but the story of Rhodes' redemption is only just beginning.
