Spectators were left shocked as head-kicks remain one of the total bans on professional boxing. The video of the incident, courtesy of well-known combat sports scribe Michael Benson, quickly went viral on social media as public revulsion worsened.

To add insult to injury, Abdurashidov published the video on his personal Instagram page, where a post in Russian reads: "So, I debuted in professional boxing and lifetime disqualification. I threw that kick automatically!"

Abdurashidov claims he reacted reflexively, but many experts suspect this is impossible.

No Meltdown Immediately After Abdurashidov

According to Forbes, the critics say that Abdurashidov did not give any visible regret at the time of the fight nor attempted to withdraw the force of his kick. Such incidents are similar to an earlier match in 2001 where James Butler punched Richard Grant after the match in which the punch happened after the fight had already ended.

After the fight, Abdurashidov recognized his opponent and apologized for his offense, even taking a photo with the opponent. All attempts to soothe the fury of fans who demand stiff results will be in vain.

Fans Demand Abdurashidov to be Banned For Life

The sporting fraternity hasn't blinked an eye in condemning Abdurashidov's actions. Social media were full of messages filled with disgust, from one commenter who wrote: "You were losing and needed to cheat. Classless. I'm glad you are banned for life."

Another said: "He needs to be banned from all sports."

Although a lifetime ban from boxing appears likely, some feel that Abdurashidov deserves punishment in his chosen sport of MMA as well. Depending on the seriousness of the offense, it is to be determined whether other combat sports organizations will permit him to compete further in any sport.
