Lamar Odom blames soon-to-be ex-wife Khloe Kardashian for his shortcomings as a father, telling HollywoodLife.com maintaining his whirlwind marriage to the reality TV star prevented him from being a great dad to his two young children.
Since Kardashian filed for divorce from her NBA husband earlier this month, the website reports Odom has been taking strides to repair his relationship with 15-year-old daughter Destiny and 11-year-old son Lamar Jr.
"He blames her for monopolizing his time," a source close to Odom told HollywoodLife. "He put a lot of energy into that relationship and that Kardashian lifestyle and he lost track of his relationships with his family, especially his father and his kids. He was so much more focused on Khloe and trying to start a family with her that he wasn't spending a lot of time with his own kids."
HollywoodLife also reports Odom is keenly focused on resurrecting his NBA career. A current free agent, the former Sixth Man of the Year Award winner last played for the L.A. Clippers and has recently attracted some attention from the team as he's reportedly put his rumored drug addiction behind him.
"He's been doing that for the last month and I've got to tell you he feels good about it," the source told HollywoodLife of Odom spending more time with his kids and father. "He's trying to be a good father, a role model now that Khloe's out of the picture. It's no longer all about her all the time."
