New England Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon's tenure with the team is in doubt.

The pass rusher hinted about his future on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, after a Patriots fan advocated for the team to give him a contract extension.

"Ion think that's about to happen," the 31-year-old replied to the fan on Wednesday, July 3.

The former Grand Valley State Lakers player intensified speculation after he posted a follow-up tweet with a GIF of the "Imma Head Out" SpongeBob meme.

Judon will enter the final guaranteed year of his contract in 2024, during which time he will earn a base salary of $6.5 million. His contract also includes a void year in 2025, which will only be used to pay a portion of his signing bonus.

Jerod Mayo wants Matthew Judon on the squad

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo indicated last March that he wants to keep players like Judon on the team.

"Look, there's no question that we want a guy like Judon. And look, going back to keeping our own, Judon was a guy in Baltimore. He just happened to be a great guy and a great fit, a culture add for us. And we wanna keep Judon."

However, the 38-year-old coach implied that the final decision about the four-time Pro Bowl selection will ultimately be up to Patriots Executive Vice President of Player Personnel, Eliot Wolf, who serves as the team's de facto general manager.
