The Chicago Bears will be granting safety Jonathan Owens a special permission.
The 28-year-old linebacker will be allowed to miss a few days of the team's upcoming training camp to support his wife, Team USA gymnast Simone Biles, in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
"The Bears are actually granting him a couple days off from training camp, so he'll be there, yes. For just a short little time," Biles revealed.
The Bears' rookie training camp will begin on July 16, and veterans' will begin on July 19. The Olympic artistic gymnastics competition will last from July 27 to August 5.
Biles is widely regarded as one of the greatest gymnasts in history, being the most decorated one with 37 Olympic and World Championship medals.
Simone Biles has also watched several NFL games
Owens and Biles began dating in 2020, announced their engagement in February 2022, and married in April 2023.
Biles has also attended several of Owens' NFL games since their marriage, notably when he played for the Green Bay Packers last season.
"Anytime we can show up for one another in support, we just get super excited because our schedules don't align that much. So whenever it does, it's really important for the both of us to show up in support," the 27-year-old athlete added about her husband's presence in the upcoming Olympic Games.
