The Chicago Sky has released a famous WNBA player and former lottery pick.
The team announced on Friday, June 28, that it had waived shooting guard Kysre Gondrezick from its roster.
The 26-year-old only appeared in five games this season for the Sky, mainly as a reserve, averaging 3.2 minutes per game and only scoring five points all campaign long.
Gondrezick played college basketball for the Michigan Wolverines and West Virginia Mountaineers. The Indiana Fever selected her with the fourth overall pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft.
However, she only appeared in 26 games during her rookie year. She was waived by Indiana ahead of her sophomore campaign due to mental health reasons stemming from the sudden death of her father, Grant Gondrezick, who played two years in the NBA in the 1980s.
The Michigan native did not play in the WNBA during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Kysre Gondrezick is linked to Jaylen Brown
Gondrezick has been linked to Boston Celtics star and 2024 NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown recently after she was spotted with the forward on the float during the team's championship parade this month.
Brown also posted a photo on his Instagram Stories of Gondrezick holding his Finals MVP trophy.
Gondrezick, who previously dated former NBA player Kevin Porter Jr., experienced domestic abuse from the former Houston Rockets guard, which ultimately led to his release from his NBA contract.
