As he approaches the twilight of his career, Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is planning to secure one last massive payday.

The 34-year-old is reportedly holding off on signing an extension with the Heat or any other team this offseason, intending to remain in Miami in the upcoming season ahead of a potential free agency in the summer of 2025.

"I'm told Jimmy Butler is absolutely determined to have a big season next year and set himself up for a major payday in 2025 free agency," league insider Shams Charania said on sports network Stadium.

The six-time NBA All-Star plans to sign a maximum four-year contract worth up to $240 million in 2025.

Butler has one guaranteed year left on his current Heat contract, wherein he is set to make $48.6 million in 2024-25.

The 6-foot-7 forward has a $52.4 million player option with the Heat in 2025-26, but he does not seem to have plans of exercising it.

Jimmy Butler loves Miami

Butler does not want any fuss, such as a trade demand, as he aims for his next maximum contract, which could have an average annual salary of $60 million and take him into his age 39 season.

"He intends to play out next season. He has an affinity for Miami, wants to be with the Heat next season," Charania added.

The five-time All-NBA Team member has led the Heat to two unexpected NBA Finals appearances in 2020 and 2023.
