Clippers: Paul George Studied Stephen A. Smith and Other Broadcasters to Improve Podcast

Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George hosts one of the most popular podcasts among NBA players when he is not playing. 

The 34-year-old launched "Podcast P with Paul George" alongside his co-hosts, actor Jackie Long and former AAU teammate Dallas Rutherford. It aired its first episode in March 2023.

George has admitted studying some of the best broadcasters to enhance the quality of the content for his listeners.

The nine-time NBA All-Star has been influenced by other media personalities and former players, including ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith for his articulation and former NFL player Chad Ochocinco's ability to deliver humor on his Nightcap podcast and as a host on "Inside the NFL."

"I couldn't do this and be comfortable if I hadn't watched those guys and how they perform," the 6-foot-8 small forward said

Paul George credits several notable former athletes for improving his podcast skills

In addition to Smith and Ochocinco, the 2019 All-NBA First Team member also acknowledged Ryan Clark, Brandon Marshall, Shannon Sharpe, and Cam Newton for helping him improve his podcasting skills. 

The Podcast P show's channel has reached 720k subscribers on YouTube and has now aired 61 episodes across additional platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.

Some notable guests on the Podcast P show include DeMar DeRozan, Karl-Anthony Towns, Tyrese Haliburton, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Cameron Brink, and the late Jerry West.
