The Miami Dolphins will face a dilemma for the rest of the year as star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's contract expires at the end of the 2024 NFL season.
However, the two parties seemingly do not see eye to eye on terms for the next agreement.
The team is reportedly unwilling to offer the 26-year-old "the market value" given to other quarterbacks who signed new deals with their teams, according to league insider Jeff Darlington of ESPN.
"Based on my conversations, they are not in the Jared Goff and Trevor Lawrence ballpark, and that to me speaks volumes about where the negotiations are right now," Darlington told ESPN Live on Tuesday, June 25.

Tagovailoa continued his upward trajectory in the 2023 season, posting a passer rating of 101.1. He led the league in passing yards with 4,624 and threw 29 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 17 regular-season games.
Jared Goff and Trevor Lawrence's contracts
The supposed points of comparison for Tagovailoa's next contract are the agreements signed by Jared Goff with the Detroit Lions and Trevor Lawrence with the Jacksonville Jaguars over the past month.
Lawrence signed a five-year, $275 million contract extension with the Jaguars, including $200 million in guaranteed money. The average annual value (AAV) of Lawrence's contract is $55 million, tying Cincinnati Bengals star QB Joe Burrow for the highest in the NFL.
Meanwhile, Goff inked a four-year deal worth $212 million, with the second-highest AAV at $53 million.
