The Los Angeles Lakers will play the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday evening without LeBron James. Just last NBA All-Star weekend, the NBA star snapped his 20-year All-Star appearance due to foot and ankle issues. Now, he's sitting out for some reason.

While he is questionable for this crucial game, we could see more Luka Doncic action tonight.

LeBron James' Injury Update

James has been a force to be reckoned with this season, averaging 24.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game on 51.6% shooting overall and a staggering 39.5% from three-point range. His chronic ankle injury might keep him out against Charlotte, though, according to Sports Illustrated.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick told Mark Medina that LeBron did take part in most of Tuesday's practice but is still questionable for Wednesday's game.

How Lakers Perform and Push Through the Playoffs Recently

Despite James' unclear status, the Lakers are humming along. They sit in the fifth spot in the Western Conference with a 32-20 record, having taken eight of their last ten games. However, they most recently suffered through a difficult 131-119 loss to the Utah Jazz, in which John Collins spearheaded the attack for Utah.

LeBron grappled through that contest with 18 points, six boards, seven dimes, and a steal, going 6-for-13 from the field and 4-for-8 from distance.

LeBron James' Unprecedented Season at 40 Years Old

Despite injury worries, James is continuing to set new records. HoopsHype pointed out his most recent accomplishment:

"With two months remaining in the regular season, LeBron James is already enjoying the greatest Age 40 scoring campaign in NBA history. Surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in his most recent game."

James, in his 22nd season and seventh with the Lakers, is showing that 40 is nothing but a number.

Last month, LeBron and now-Mavs player Anthony Davis were reportedly losing hope in the Lakers' move before the trade deadline. Now, the LA town has a firepower to lend from the newest member of the team, Luka Doncic.

Speaking of the James-Doncic Duo, Paul George did not have a second thought to say that the two superstars would be a "nightmare" to every Western team. This will be a deadly combo for the years to come, but only if LeBron stays healthy and Luka will captain the Lakers when James is not around.

Of course, chemistry is still important despite their performance. That would be the first thing that the Lakers should keep on improving. Still, the battle in the West won't be easy for the two.
