Former NBA star John Wall has opened up about his willingness to do whatever it takes to get back into the league.
The 33-year-old was the first overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, but injuries derailed the latter part of his career after being one of the best point guards in the league during his prime.
"I think you need those vets in the locker room. That's what teams are missing. I'm willing to accept any role it is to be on a team. If it's playing, not playing, being in a Udonis Haslem role. Anything like that," Wall said during an appearance in former teammate Paul George's Podcast P show.
The five-time NBA All-Star and 2017 All-NBA Third Team member last played in the NBA in 2023 with the Los Angeles Clippers.
"I just want to be in a NBA jersey again, because I know how much the game means to me, how much I still have left. If it's helping a team playing, if it's helping a team being a coach or a mentor, I'm willing to accept that," Wall added.
Udonis Haslem's role with the Miami Heat
Playing in the league for 20 seasons with the Heat, Haslem was a rotation player in the first 12 seasons, while in the latter eight seasons, he served more as a player-coach who guided the team's young and role players.
The undersized power forward has played in only 37 games in his last five seasons in the league, including the regular season and playoffs combined.
After his retirement at the end of the 2022-23 season, Haslem joined the Heat's front office in November 2023 as Vice President of Basketball Development.
