Fresh from his managerial tenure with German powerhouse Bayern Munich, Thomas Tuchel had another opportunity.

Manchester United reportedly attempted to lure Tuchel to become their next manager following a hugely disappointing 2023-24 season, where they recorded their worst Premier League finish in history, coming in 8th place.

However, Tuchel declined the chance to become the Red Devils' new manager as he prefers to take a break by not coaching any club this season, and likely for the next season, per football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 50-year-old tactician reportedly held talks in Monaco last week with Manchester United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who oversees the club's sporting operations.

Tuchel has experienced coaching in the Premier League, previously taking over Chelsea in the middle of the 2020-21 season and leading them to a UEFA Champions League triumph that year.

However, he was eventually dismissed in the early parts of their 2022-23 campaign after a poor start following sanctions imposed on the team in relation to former Russian owner Roman Abramovich.

Thomas Tuchel had a disastrous 2023-24 season himself

Similar to Manchester United, Tuchel's Bayern Munich had a dreadful 2032-24 season by their standards. They lost the Bundesliga and endured a trophyless campaign for the first time since 2011-12.

To make matters worse, Bayern finished third in the league for the first time since 2010-11, and they were also eliminated in the UEFA Champions League semifinals by fellow Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, despite failing to convince Tuchel, current manager Erik ten Hag's future at Manchester United is still in question, as the club is still reviewing its recent campaign.
