The Brazilian national football team's preparations for the upcoming 2024 Copa America are underway, and they have confirmed an exciting detail.

Real Madrid star winger Rodrygo is set to receive one of the most prestigious honors bestowed on Brazilian footballing greats.

The 23-year-old will wear Brazil's iconic jersey number 10 for the upcoming tournament, which will be held in the United States from June 20 to July 14.

Rodrygo has worn the number 10 for Brazil's past games at the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with the usual bearer, Neymar Jr., out with a knee injury since October 2023.

Rodrygo's Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr. also temporarily wore the number 10 during a series of friendly games last year, as Neymar was also previously out with an ankle injury.

Vini Jr. will wear the number 7 for Brazil in the 2024 Copa America, the same shirt number he is currently wearing for Real Madrid.

Brazil's No. 10 shirt's lore

Brazil's number 10 shirt is one of the most iconic and recognizable shirts in sports history. It was previously worn by greats like Pelé, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Kaká, and many more.

Neymar Jr., who recently became the Brazil national team's all-time leading goal scorer in official games with 78 goals, is the current wearer of the shirt.

However, he is sidelined for the Copa America tournament due to a brutal ACL and meniscus tear on his left knee sustained in international duty vs Uruguay in October 2023.
