American tennis superstar Coco Gauff is through to the semifinals of the French Open 2024 Women's singles after defeating Ons Jabeur in three sets.

The 20-year-old is vying for her first-ever Roland Garros title. The closest she got to lifting the trophy was in 2022 when she reached the finals and lost to Iga Świątek, who will also be her semis foe.

The Polish star, who came to the tournament as a no. 1 seed and is currently the world no. 1, sees Gauff as a difficult opponent because of her clay court success.

"It's good to just keep going and not think about this match as something huge - just another match - to not put too much baggage on your shoulders," Swiatek told reporters.

"But I guess Coco is not easy. She really likes playing on clay, especially here. I'll just focus on myself and I'll prepare tactically and we'll see."

Swiatek easily dismantled her quarterfinal opponent, Markéta Vondroušová, by finishing their match in just two sets.

Before that, she also left Anastasia Potapova without a point in two sets in the fourth round.

Coco Gauff vs Iga Swiatek head-to-head

Swiatek got Gauff's numbers.

The pair have met 11 times, and Gauff has won just once, on her home court at the Cincinnati Open last year.

Their most recent meeting was at the Rome Open, the tournament before the French Open.

They battled each other in the semifinals, and Swiatek emerged triumphant in just two sets, 6-4 6-3.

Coco Gauff vs Iga Swiatek head-to-head in Roland Garros also favors the Polish star lopsidedly.

They met in the Paris court twice, and Swiatek won both.
