Former NBA player Jamal Crawford has shared his perspective on the much-beloved show "Inside the NBA," which airs on TNT during its coverage of league games.

The 44-year-old discussed the topic on The Pat McAfee Show's latest episode on Wednesday, May 29.

"There's some people that say, 'I don't even watch the game, I tune in for pregame and after the game to see what they're going to say.' So they've always had the pulse. And for them, hopefully this whole thing shakes out... but they transcend sports. They're almost like The Golden Girls. Like, they got their own sitcom," the three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year stated.

The show's future is currently in doubt after more than 30 years on the air, as TNT may lose the rights to cover NBA games with a significant competing bid from NBC.

Jamal Crawford says 'Inside the NBA' transcends basketball

Crawford added that the show's influence extends beyond basketball and noted its longevity. The four main hosts have been together since 2011 when Shaquille O'Neal joined the fold.

"They're bigger than just the sport because we all want to know what Shaq or Charles or Kenny are going to say and Ernie's the godfather, so he's going to set the stage perfectly. We have to have them because they've been the backdrop and the soundtrack of basketball for the last 25-plus years," the former NBA shooting guard said.

The "Inside the NBA" crew is currently covering the Western Conference Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves.
