Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James expressed dissatisfaction with an aspect of the NBA's coaches' challenge rule as he watched Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, May 22.
The 39-year-old pointed out that teams should be awarded a third challenge if their first two coach challenges are successful.
"Have to change that challenge rule! No way you have 2 successful challenges and can't anymore for the rest of the game! Makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE," the NBA's all-time leading scorer posted on X, formerly Twitter.
James's sentiments came after Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd effectively challenged and overturned two referee decisions during the third quarter.

Despite successfully using both challenges, the Mavericks entered the fourth quarter without any remaining challenges for the remainder of the game.
NBA coaches' challenge rule
NBA rules permit coaches to use one challenge per game to overturn a call on behalf of their teams. If the first challenge is successful, the team earns a second challenge.
However, teams are not granted a third challenge, irrespective of the outcome of the second challenge.
Despite not having any challenges for the entire fourth quarter, the Mavericks secured a gritty 108-105 victory in Game 1 of the series against the Timberwolves on the road at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
