Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic and Minnesota Timberwolves Anthony Edwards, the star players in their respective teams, had a heated verbal argument at the end of Game 7 last Sunday, May 19, at the Ball Arena in Denver.
With the Timberwolves completing a 20-point comeback to win the game and the series, Edwards waved goodbye to the Denver crowd as he dribbled out the clock with under 30 seconds left.
Following a foul by Nuggets guard, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels's dunk attempt with 20 seconds left, Jokic approached Edwards during the deadball situation, which sparked their argument.
Jokic did not like Edwards' gesture, repeatedly asking, "why?" to which Edwards replied, "why what?"
The reigning MVP asked why Edwards was waving to the Denver crowd, and the Wolves star pointed up to the scoreboard, indicating that they were about to send the Nuggets home.
