Despite the legal troubles hounding him in the past months, Rashee Rice will continue as part of the Kansas City Chiefs' offseason plans.
ESPN reported that the incoming sophomore participated in the team's activities as he continued to deal with controversies due to his involvement in a car crash.
Coach Andy Reid said they are not ready yet to decide on his future with the team.
However, he needs to do more than his other teammates, as he will be busy with both grid-iron-related and personal development activities.
Rice, drafted 55th overall last season, fully participated in organized team activities, including programs for May 20-22, May 28-30, and June 4-7. He will also be present at the minicamp from June 11 to June 13.
The young wide receiver was involved in two off-the-field scandals in a span of two months.
First was the highly publicized car crash in Dallas in March this year.
His Lamborghini Urus figured in a high-speed hit-and-run crash on North Central Expressway, which saw at least three more cars getting damaged and four people getting hurt.
Footage showed five men walking away from the accident site without even checking up on possible victims of the crash.
It did not take long for the authorities to figure out who the owners of the car were.
Rice met with the police a few days later and said he was taking full responsibility for the incident.
He surrendered on April 10 and was out on bail by April 11.
"Mr. Rice wants to make it certain that it is understood and appreciated that he is going to do everything in his power to bring that life back to as normal as possible in terms of injuries and in terms of property damage," his lawyer Royce West said, via The Dallas Morning News.
"He'll make certain that he is responsible for helping them get through that particular part of this. Don't get us wrong, we understand no one can ever bring back to a person who has been in an accident ... help them get over the memories of being in that accident."
He is charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury.
By May 7, Rice's name gets dragged again, this time for an assault on a guy at a Dallas bar. His camp denied the allegation, saying there was only a verbal altercation, and he never put his hand on the complainant.
Rashee Rice suspension still being studied
Right now, there is a certainty that he will get suspended, but for how many games remains in question.
NFL Insider Adam Schefter said Rice is looking at a multi-game suspension, given the gravity of his issues.
His missing games will be huge for the Chiefs, who are eying the first-ever three-peat in the NFL.
Rice emerged as a serviceable target for superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
He ended his maiden season with 938 yards and seven touchdowns on 79 catches.
