The honeymoon stage is over for Taylor Swift and NFL fans, as we kickoff more Chiefs offseason drama.

Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl winning kicker Harrison Butker has been circulating around the media for all the wrong reasons. Butker gave a commencement speech to Benedictine College earlier this week, and it couldn't have gone viral in any worse of a way.

Harrison Butker kicked his speech off by thanking administration for the invitation then dived into an attack of modern day corrupt media, the Catholic religion, abortion, and family ideals. Unlike Butker's play on the NFL field, the message from this speech went wide right.

Is This an Over Reaction?

The bottom line is yes. Harrison Butker spoke his mind publicly, and he has every right to. He speaks of his experiences and observations, along with a subtle Taylor Swift joke. This joke comes ironically, as Butker's ideals seem to be on the opposite end of Taylor Swift and her army's ideas; as the Chiefs kicker does hold ideals more closely shared by a mass of NFL fans.

Harrison Butker continues on in his speech bringing up his opinion of a woman's true role in society. Point blank, Butker is pro-housewife. This doesn't, hasn't, sat well with a vast majority of people tuning in, as Butker's beliefs come off as seemingly misogynistic. The big quote from Harrison Butker being pulled and misinterpreted is this,

"I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you."

"Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother."

Butker has been criminally misjudged by the media from this cherry picking of a quote. Most "reputable" media sources purposely "failed" to include how Butker chokes up from tears when speaking of his wife and their mutual support of each other,

"I am on this stage today, and able to be the man I am, because I have a wife who leans into her vocation. I am beyond blessed with the man talents God has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class, back in middle school, would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all, Homemaker."

Why is This Rubbing People the Wrong Way

When looking at Harrison Butker's speech from an objective point of view, one can see that it is just his opinion on the matter, based on his life events; similarly to how the minds of many people are shaped.

An outrage stormed Butker based on society's preferred role for women. This is not to say women should not pursue careers, but should not be shamed or thought lesser as if they do prefer a more "traditional lifestyle." The overcompensation to one side is what is causing the outrage, as this is a subject that should be viewed objectively, on an individual level.

Now back on the Taylor Swift end, Swift promotes empowerment to women and has gathered an army, storming the sports media goliath of the NFL. If a mass of people can infiltrate a sport's world with no knowledge of the game, do you think they will do the research and form an objective opinion on a topic like this?

Not to put an invective on Swift, but she should be aware of the following that she has amassed and the impact she could have in shaping minds. As well for the NFL, only seeing dollar signs with Taylor Swift's face printed on the bills.

There are much worse things happening surrounding the NFL, and especially the Kansas City Chiefs should know this, as the Media should've punted on this topic.
