Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic spoke candidly about the Minnesota Timberwolves roster after they eliminated the defending champions in Game 7 of their Western Conference Semifinals series, 98-90 on Sunday, May 19th, at the Ball Arena in Denver.
The reigning NBA Most Valuable Player acknowledged that the Timberwolves are rivals and admitted their team was built to defeat them.
"They have basically two All-Stars, two probably first defensive players of the year, Mike Conley who is the most underrated player in the NBA probably. I mean, I love the guy. He's so good. He didn't shoot as well this game. In one moment he was the leading rebounder in the game for them," the 29-year-old told the media in the post game conference,
The Nuggets previously faced the Timberwolves in the playoffs during the first round of their championship run last year, where they were able to win the series in five games.
Mike Conley is one of the best teammates in the league
Jokic's praise of Conley certainly carries weight, as he has gained a reputation as one of the most reliable veterans in the league.
The 36-year-old recently won the 2023-24 Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year award, which was his second time receiving the honor after 2018-19 during his final season with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Furthermore, he has also won the NBA Sportsmanship Award a record four times in 2014, 2016, 2019, and 2023.
