The Oklahoma City Thunder managed to capitalize on a huge break during crunch time of Game 4 in their Western Conference Semifinals series against the Dallas Mavericks.

With a minute and a half left on the clock and the Thunder holding a narrow 92-91 lead, a pass from Lu Dort to the corner for Jalen Williams wasn't quite on target.

Despite momentarily losing control of the ball and picking it up upon receiving the pass, Williams swiftly dribbled again and evaded the Mavericks' defense, slamming in a semi-wide open dunk and stretching their lead.

Williams appeared to commit a double dribble during the play, but the game's crew chief, Zach Zarba, has confirmed that it was the correct call and provided an explanation for the decision.

"We felt Williams never gained control of that basketball. Therefore, he's allowed to initiate a dribble after he secures it. Post-game video review confirmed our on-court ruling," the 49-year-old official said.

Jalen Williams' dunk was huge for the Thunder

The Thunder held on to a 100-96 road victory at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Monday, May 13, to even the series at 2-2.

Williams' dunk helped the Thunder secure a two-possession lead at the end of the game to avoid any further pressure from the Mavericks.

Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals series will shift back to Oklahoma City at the Paycom Center on Wednesday, May 15.
