Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is widely regarded as one of the best players today, and top players typically command a significant share of touches on the ball during games.
However, an anonymous veteran assistant coach made a controversial claim suggesting that Doncic's teammates may not be entirely pleased with the Slovenian's dominant control of the game.
The coach told Howard Beck of The Ringer that there is almost a sense of relief among Doncic's teammates when he checks out of a game, as it allows others a bit more freedom to make plays.
"It's a sense of, 'Hey, now we get to play.' It's difficult to have any rhythm if you're not touching the ball," the coach said.
The coach also said that when Doncic is off the floor, it's an opportunity for those teammates to demonstrate that they don't have to rely solely on the five-time NBA All-Star.

Meanwhile, one of Doncic's teammates, veteran power forward Markieff Morris, strongly dismissed the claim in a social media post.
"Cap! We're trying to win a chip go head with this foolishness! #PRAVIMVP," the 34-year-old posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Morris notably included the #PraviMVP hashtag in the post, the Slovenian term for "Real MVP," and the centerpiece of a campaign by the Mavs to support Doncic's MVP candidacy.
