The Cleveland Cavaliers are advancing to the Eastern Conference Semifinals after winning the all-or-nothing Game 7 of their first-round series against the Orlando Magic, 106-94, at home in the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Sunday, May 5.
Despite the team's massive achievement, advancing to the second round for the first time since 2018, Cavs star Donovan Mitchell aims for more and delivered a strong message to his team in the locker room.
"This is great, but we're too talented to be satisfied with just this. I'm just been honest... We didn't come here for this just for one series," the 27-year-old emphasized.
Mitchell was incredible during the series decider, delivering 39 points, nine rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block in 45 minutes of play.
The five-time NBA All-Star scored 201 points during the seven-game series, joining LeBron James as one of the only players to score 200 or more points for the Cavaliers in a playoff series.
Cavaliers make history in the post-LeBron James era
The Cavaliers secured their first playoff series victory since the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics, led by a dominant performance from LeBron James, who was at his peak.
The NBA's all-time leading scorer has played a monumental role in the franchise's history over the past two decades, culminating in a championship in 2016.
This series triumph against the Magic marks the Cavaliers' first postseason success without LeBron James on the roster since the 1993 playoffs when they defeated the New Jersey Nets in the first round.
