The Chicago Bulls won convincingly 131-116 in their play-in tournament game against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, April 17, at the United Center in Chicago to keep their playoff hopes alive.

However, they may have to play their next game without one of their most important players.

Bulls point guard Alex Caruso suffered a "significant" left ankle sprain during the game, and his availability for their next matchup against the Miami Heat is in doubt, according to league insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The 30-year-old sustained the injury early in the second quarter during a defensive fast-break possession.

As they were sprinting to halt the Hawks' attack, teammate Andre Drummond inadvertently stepped on Caruso's left foot.

The pesky defensive guard attempted to play through the injury but eventually exited the game in the third quarter.

The 2023 NBA All-Defensive Team member concluded the evening with six points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal while logging 17 minutes of play.

The Bulls will be facing off against the Miami Heat in their final play-in tournament game on the road on Friday, April 16, at the Kaseya Center in Miami for the last postseason spot in the Eastern Conference.

Heat star Jimmy Butler could also miss that game due to a right knee injury.
