The Brooklyn Nets are nearing the conclusion of their search for a new head coach after being led by interim coach Kevin Ollie for the latter part of the 2023-24 season.
The team has reportedly selected Jordi Fernandez as their new head coach, according to league insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Fernandez has been with the Sacramento Kings since 2022 and currently serves as the associate head coach under Mike Brown.
The Spanish national will continue coaching with the Kings for the remainder of the season before transitioning to Brooklyn.

In addition to his role in Sacramento, the 41-year-old has been the head coach of the Canadian men's national basketball team since June 2023.
He led this team, which boasts several NBA stars, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dillon Brooks, and RJ Barrett, to finish with the bronze medal in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Fernandez's first NBA role with the Cleveland Cavaliers organization spanned from 2009 to 2016. Initially, he served as a player development coach until 2013, transitioning to the Cavaliers' G League affiliate, the Canton Charge, for the remainder of his tenure.
During this period, Fernandez worked with notable players such as LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love and contributed to the coaching staff during the team's championship victory in 2016.
Subsequently, Fernandez served as an assistant coach under Mike Malone with the Denver Nuggets from 2016 to 2022.
