The Oklahoma City Thunder have had an incredible season despite being relatively young compared to the rest of the league.

They finished as the number one seed in the highly competitive Western Conference at the end of the 2023-24 NBA regular season on Sunday, April 14.

With this achievement, the Thunder made NBA history by becoming the youngest team ever to secure the top seed in either conference, with an average age of 23.9 years old among players in their roster.

Both the Thunder and the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets finished with an identical 57-25 record, but the Thunder own the tiebreaker between the two.

They were both embroiled in a three-way battle for the number one seed with the Minnesota Timberwolves, but the Wolves lost their last game of the regular season to finish at 56-26 and the third seed.

The Thunder is the second-youngest team in the league

The Thunder's average age of 23.9 makes them the second youngest team in the entire league this season, behind the San Antonio Spurs.

Their head coach, Mark Daigneault, is also the third youngest chief tactician in the NBA right now, behind Joe Mazzulla of the Boston Celtics and Will Hardy of the Utah Jazz.

Additionally, the Thunder finished as the first seed in the Western Conference for just the second time since relocating to Oklahoma in 2008, the first one coming in the 2012-13 season.
