The Washington Wizards have confirmed that one of their most promising players will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Rookie forward Bilal Coulibaly will sit out the rest of the 2023-24 regular season due to a right wrist fracture diagnosis.

The injury was sustained when the 19-year-old fell during last Saturday's game, March 16, against the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. The Wizards lost that game by 127-98.

In addition, the team mentioned that the Frenchman's right wrist fracture "will be treated conservatively."

Currently, the Wizards hold the unfortunate title of being the worst team in the NBA, with a win-loss record of 11-57 and a four-game losing streak.

Bilal Coulibaly is having a decent rookie season

The Wizards chose Coulibaly as the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Throughout this season, he has maintained averages of 8.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game across 63 games. He shoots 43.5 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from three-point range while logging an average of 27.2 minutes per contest.

Before joining the NBA, he played professional basketball in his native France for the LNB Pro A team Metropolitans 92.

During his time there, he was teammates with Victor Wembanyama, who was later selected as the first overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs.
