Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas addressed the team's unexpected decision to bench him late in the game against the Spurs despite his stellar performance on the road on Sunday, March 17, at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.

With Brooklyn trailing 118-115 with 20 seconds remaining in overtime, Nets head coach Kevin Ollie called a timeout to draw up a play.

Despite leading the team with 31 points on 12-of-23 shooting, three rebounds, five assists, and two steals, Thomas remained on the bench after the timeout.

The Nets ran a play for forward Cameron Johnson, who ran off a screen and missed an open three, sealing their 122-115 loss in overtime.

"I guess they felt it was the best lineup to get a three off. It was a good look, he just missed it. It is what it is. I mean, if he made it, we wouldn't be here talking about whether I was in the game or not. It it was it is, you can't get it back. Just gotta move on to the next game," the 22-year-old Thomas said after the narrow loss.

Before Sunday's game against San Antonio, Johnson had been 3-of-17 from three-point range in clutch situations this season, referring to the final five minutes of games within a five-point margin.

The 6-foot-8 player added another crucial miss in his statline with his most recent shot.
