The Atlanta Falcons' latest marquee acquisition, quarterback Kirk Cousins, is currently in talks with tight end Kyle Pitts regarding jersey number 8, which has been the signal-caller's number throughout his entire NFL career and since high school.
During his introductory press conference, Cousins informed reporters that he offered to donate or even pay Pitts for the jersey number, but he also gave the tight end a chance to keep it.

"If it's a number you want to pivot from, great, you let me know. I've obviously worn No. 8 since high school. If it's a number you want to keep, that's fine, no problem. I just want to be a good teammate," the four-time Pro Bowl selection recalled from their conversation.
However, the quarterback said that Pitts jokingly responded by saying he only wanted one thing in return, claiming he wants targets every game.
Kirk Cousins reveals reason for choosing Atlanta
Cousins added that his previous decisions to stay in Minnesota were made year-by-year, and he chose the Falcons this time for a specific reason.
"As we talked with Atlanta, it felt like this was a place where, if I play at the level I expect to play, that I can retire a Falcon. That was something that really excited me and that's certainly the goal," the former Michigan State player said.
