Free agent safety Jonathan Owens will sign a two-year contract with the Chicago Bears, according to team reporter Courtney Cronin of ESPN.

The 28-year-old previously played for the Green Bay Packers last season. During that time, he participated in 17 games with 11 starts, accumulating 775 defensive snaps and 233 on special teams.

Owens tallied 84 tackles, three pass breakups, a forced fumble, a recovered fumble, and a touchdown.

The former Missouri Western Griffons player, who has also played for the Texans and Cardinals in his NFL career, is also recognized for being the husband of gymnast Simone Biles.

Biles is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes in her sport and the most decorated American gymnast in history.

The 26-year-old supported Owens while thanking Green Bay in a series of posts on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

"just wanted to say thank you packer nation for embracing my husband & I [love] green bay will always hold a special place in our hearts!," the four-time Olympic gold medalist initially said.

"so incredibly proud of my husband. the grind never stops! this is just the beginning!," Biles added on another post.

Simone Biles shares more benefits of husband playing in Chicago

Biles singled out Chicago's pizzas and hotdogs as one perk of her husband playing in Chicago while mentioning another benefit of being in the Windy City.

"I'm so excited about not having a connecting flight to go & see my husband hahahahaaha," Biles said.

Owens and Biles announced their engagement on February 15, 2022, and tied the knot on April 22, 2023.
