The Seattle Seahawks have kicked off their free agency actions by signing veteran tight end Pharaoh Brown to a one-year contract with a base value of $3.2 million.
The deal includes incentives that could elevate the total value of the agreement to $3.9 million, according to league insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Brown appeared in 17 games and started 11 for the New England Patriots last season. The 29-year-old hauled 13 receptions for a career-high 208 receiving yards and a touchdown with the struggling Patriots team, who finished 4-13, their worst record in over three decades.
The undrafted tight end is expected to offer the Seahawks a valuable veteran presence with versatility. He can line up as an inline tight end or out wide in the slot, providing flexibility and options for the team's offensive scheme.
Before his tenure in New England, Brown played for the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans and had two separate stints with the Cleveland Browns.
Seahawks regain depth in tight end position
The Seahawks are set to regain depth in the tight end position with the signing of Brown, especially after losing both veterans Will Dissly and Colby Parkinson to Los Angeles.
Dissly inked a three-year pact valued at $14 million, with $10 million fully guaranteed with the Chargers, while Parkinson agreed to a three-year deal worth $22.5 million that includes $15.5 million in guaranteed money with the Rams.
