Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is reportedly considering New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers as his potential running mate for the upcoming 2024 U.S. presidential election set for November 5, 2024.
The 40-year-old quarterback has expressed openness to the idea, but nothing has been finalized yet. Rodgers is just one of several potential vice presidential running mates being considered by Kennedy.
Life on the campaign trail would present and potentially secure the second-highest office in the land, a significant conflict for the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player. Recently, Rodgers expressed his desire to continue playing in the NFL for "two or three or four more years."
The Super Bowl XLV MVP is a devoted supporter of Kennedy, often referencing him in interviews. Kennedy, who declared his presidential candidacy in October as an independent, is set to announce his choice for vice president in the upcoming weeks.
Rodgers remains under contract with the Jets through 2025 and is slated to earn $35 million in salary and bonuses for the 2024 NFL season, all guaranteed.
Robert F. Kennedy also considering former WWE star and Minnesota governor
In addition to Rodgers, Kennedy is also contemplating former WWE wrestler and Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura for his running mate as vice president.
Among those he's considering, Rodgers and Ventura emerge as his top choices.
The 72-year-old is best known for his stint with the wrestling promotion as a heel from 1975 to 1986 and for serving as the governor of Minnesota from 1998 to 2003.
