Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has been the most outstanding rookie in the league this season, setting several records in the process and running away with the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
After spending three seasons of college football with the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Texans selected the 22-year-old with the second overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.
During his time with the Buckeyes, Stroud secured the Graham-George Offensive Player of the Year award twice (in 2021 and 2022) and also clinched the Griese-Brees Quarterback of the Year accolade twice in the same years.
Upon entering the league, Stroud made an immediate impact, setting the NFL record for the most passing yards in a game by a rookie with 470, the most passing attempts without an interception to start a career at 192, and tying the record for most passing touchdowns in a game by a rookie with five.
Stroud also holds Texans franchise records for the most passing yards in a rookie season with 3,540 (ongoing) and the most passing touchdowns in a rookie season with 20 (ongoing).
Let's look at the contract, career earnings, and salary of C.J. Stroud.
C.J. Stroud Contract: $36.3 million
Upon being drafted earlier this year, Stroud signed a fully guaranteed four-year contract with the Houston Texans worth $36,279,243 this past July.
The signal caller's contract with the Texans includes a $23.38 million signing bonus, which he will receive immediately. This marks the first instance in the history of the Texans franchise of providing such an immediate payout.

C.J. Stroud Salary 2023
In his rookie season in the pros, Stroud is slated to earn $24,134,904, according to figures from Spotrac.
The majority of this amount is attributed to his signing bonus, which is $23,384,904, while the remaining portion is his base salary, totaling $750,000.
Stroud may need to manage his spending more conservatively over the next few seasons, given that his earnings will decrease significantly.
For the 2024 season, his compensation is expected to drop to $2,399,056, a reduction of more than ten times.
However, it is projected to rise again to $4,048,113 for the 2025 season before reaching $5,697,169 in 2026, the final year of his rookie contract.
