Houston Rockets wing Dillon Brooks has a history with Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. Both their respective teams are set to collide on Wednesday, and so the 27-year-old Canadian is making sure that “The King” better be ready.

"I'm ready to lock him up," Brooks said. "He's been shooting the ball well. He's been playing well. So, I'm just there to make him tired. Make him get into that fourth quarter early," Brooks, who has earned the reputation of being a villain on the court, said on Tuesday.

Brooks shot to fame for his controversial antics directed at the four-time NBA champion. This happened during the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs when he was still with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The 27-year-old taunted the 19-time All-Star after the Grizzlies won in Game 2, ESPN reported. However, this move backfired and ended up motivating James, with the Lakers eliminating the Grizzlies, 4-2.

Different Season, Same Old Dillon Brooks

After he was released by the Grizzlies, Dillon Brooks has found new life with the Rockets. He has been proving his worth thus far, averaging 16.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in the six games he has played so far this 2023-24 season.

Brooks has jacked up his numbers since jumping from the Grizzlies to the Rockets. While his words may be taken as some sort of swipe, the 27-year-old’s opinion looks more like explaining what he intends to do when he faces and guards James in their upcoming matchup.

The Rockets may be on a three-game winning streak but face a talented Lakers quintet on Wednesday, November 8. Houston is a 3-point underdog against James and the purple and gold per USA Today.

Brooks will be in for a tough night trying to contain James. As far as plays beyond actual basketball is something most will certainly pay close attention to.
