WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg made his mark in the wrestling world, both in the WWE and WCW. A lot has changed since he ruled the sport, and the 56-year-old is aware of these, such as the storylines, the characters, and so on.

As one of the wrestling icons in the business, the former WWE and WCW champion did not hold back on his true feelings about modern-day wrestling when he spoke on the "Chicago Sports" podcast.

"The internal storylines, I don't think, are better. The characters, I surely know, aren't better. But, I don't know, the guys that are doing their thing right now and leading the charge, they're doing a damn good job - it's just they're not deep. That's all. They just aren't deep," Goldberg said partly via Cageside Seats.

Goldberg had his chance to re-ignite his run, although it was more of using him to jack up ratings and flavor. But unlike his prime, Goldberg's storylines did not quite cut it, a reason why he appears on an as-needed basis.

Unfortunately, all that is impossible for now since the WWE did not renew his contract in 2022. Regardless, some promotions remained interested in his services per Fightful Select via Ringside News.

Goldberg has not yet officially retired

For Goldberg, he is not officially retired. He said that the WWE owed him one last match. If the promotion was not interested in giving him one, he is contemplating doing so alone, but in Israel, Sports Illustrated reported back in March.

"You never say never, especially in wrestling, and they owe me one. That's all I can say. I made a deal with the devil and I did my job, and they owe me a retirement match," the many-time WCW champion stated.
