The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the Denver Broncos in Week 6 on Thursday night, October 12, although tight end Travis Kelce is questionable with an injured ankle.

Although the Broncos have been struggling as of late, there is no question that the Chiefs need to be cautious. Should the 34-year-old be unavailable, the attention is expected to shift to rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice.

In the eyes of former NFL WR Andrew Hawkins, the 23-year-old should fill in the void perfectly against the Broncos.

"This is a player who plays extremely fast. And over the course of the season, has developed an incredible chemistry with [quarterback] Patrick Mahomes," Hawkins quipped when he spoke on ESPN.

The former SMU Mustang has made quite an impression this season despite playing in only 123 offensive snaps in the Chiefs' first five games.

Rice has caught 17 receptions on 24 targets for 173 yards and two TDs as of this writing.

Rice is bound to see more action in the coming games. No less than Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy said he is planning to give the rookie more responsibilities, something he revealed at a news conference on Monday, October 9, via The Kansas City Star.

Travis Kelce's status for Week 6

Heading into Week 6 action, Kelce has been listed as questionable for the Chiefs. He is dealing with a low-ankle sprain and has been limited for the past few days. He did not practice on Monday, CBS Sports reported.

However, the two-time Super Bowl champion did join team practice on Wednesday, although his right ankle was heavily taped. Hence, it may all be up to head coach Andy Reid if the eight-time Pro Bowler will see action against the Broncos.
